Los Angeles, CA – LA-based singer/songwriter Sandra Booker brings her love for traditional and contemporary jazz and the intimacy of the theater stage together to share songs and stories of love inspired from her adventures in Paris, France from her 2017 MIM tour benefiting the Jazz Musicians Against Cancer fund.

40 Days in Paris: Jazz for a Saturday Afternoon is what Booker calls an “American musical love letter with a Parisian flair.” It’s a blending of the great American songbook and original compositions in a celebration of love and jazz. “I get to share my experiences performing in the City of Lights to bring people together in a creative and artistic way. My show has elements of the French rhythmic style from composers like Maurice Ravel to Django Reinhardt set against the soulfulness of Nina Simone and the elegance of Josephine Baker in a minimalist jazz ensemble setting. It’s also a “thank you” to those who have supported the Jazz Musicians Against Cancer fund project, those impacted by cancer, and anyone who believes music is medicine.“

Booker, currently in treatment for bladder cancer, has continued her relentless activism as a healthcare-for-all advocate. She is spreading that message through her music and live-show performances. She credits her diagnosis with her “live in the now” attitude and her motivation for her self-produced European tour resulting in sold out shows at some of Paris’ top jazz venues including the Sunside/Sunset, Cercle Suedois and Cave du 38 Riv.

She was featured in Entrée to Black Paris http://entreetoblackparis.blogspot.com/2017/07/music-is-medicine-2017-tour-jazz.html and appeared in the artist spotlight on TSFJazz Radio with pianist Tamir Hendelman who joined her for the tour. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqEQ9RC7ZoU&feature=share She’ll be joined by the imaginative Mike Scott Trio featuring Mike Scott (guitar), Edwin Livingston (bass) and Thomas White (drums).

Proceeds go to the Jazz Musicians Against Cancer fund. JMAC is a crowd-funding campaign established to provide no-cost concerts to cancer support centers throughout Los Angeles and southern California. https://fundly.com/jazz-musicians-against-cancer.
