Drawn Together L.A.
curated by Mike Kelley
Drawn Together LA represents an attraction to abstraction along with a high level of formal skill by mixture of LA’s veteran and emerging artists on one hand and those who incorporate a sense of place (physical or psychological) on the other. The title acknowledges the similarities and joyous alchemy of their diversity. Which is to say the exhibition is as much about the wonderful circumstances of collision created by paring the work of this group of Los Angeles most talented artists as it is about any particular theme.
In addition to the gallery opening, we welcome international musician, Sylvia Hinz to share her talents with our visitors and guests.
Praised for her equally fierce and bold dramatic performance style, Sylvia Hinz is one of the leading recorder players worldwide, specialised in contemporary music and improvisation.
This concert is going to display a variety of special works for recorder solo (alto recorder to Paetzold double bass recorder) by Sarah Nemtsov and John Strieder from Berlin, and romanian composer Violeta Dinescu, as well as Chikage Imai from Japan.
