With the inclusion of the new Gallery Committee and submission process, Art Share is ready to adapt and serve emerging artists like never before.
Art Share L.A. went through a unique renaissance in 2014 when we opened our first Call for Submissions, receiving artwork from 70 local, emerging artists. Through those submissions we were able to construct themed group shows. Before we knew it, Art Share was receiving almost 1,000 submissions each year. Guest curators pulled together some exciting shows like — “Cut It Out”, “Creature Comforts” and “72 Hour Hold”. It was an exciting time!
Almost 5 years later, Art Share L.A. is mixing it up again! We have formed The Gallery Committee which will help us create gallery shows that respond to our community. Our gallery program will be more flexible, equitable and dynamic!
The Gallery Committee, with the support of Katie Frager, Program Manager – Gallery, will create themed shows and announce a call for art per show. This will make each year’s gallery artist roster MORE inclusive, MORE equitable, and MORE diverse. Starting with September’s “Labor of Love”, each exhibition will have its own submission opportunity. Stay tuned to our website’s submit page for future opportunities!
The Gallery Committee is comprised of 5 highly respected Los Angeles based professionals within the arts community: Shana Nys Dambrot, Heidi Johnson, Mike Kelley, Isabel Rojas-Williams, and April Rushing. We are excited to offer our artists their curatorial and professional expertise! Learn more about each Gallery Committee member here.
