ACKLAND is an L.A. based band that draws in comparable styles to artists such as Björk, Ava Luna, and St. Vincent. ACKLAND takes on ethereal, dark and dreamy landscapes, exploring folk melodies, vocal harmonies and avant-garde improvisation using acoustic instruments and live electronic effects. In their upcoming album, listeners will find band leader and vocalist Molly Pease has infused the songs with themes of loss and transformation by way of lyrically expressed experiences; ultimately, sharing a vulnerability and openness with her listeners in a way that comes across as both refreshing and relatable.
The album was recorded live at California Institute of the Arts in the Roy O. Disney Concert Hall by grammy-winner John Baffa and mastered by grammy-winner Evern Goknar at Capital Records.
Opening up the night for ACKLAND’s release show will be L.A. based duo Kat and Ben: an experimental electric chamber-folk group. ACKLAND will follow, sharing the stage with dancer and choreographer Felicia Skye and artist Miranda Kahn. Felicia Skye will dance to two interlude tracks from the new album, using a white powder that makes an aesthetic connection to the album art, while Miranda Kahn projects watercolor art behind the group for the majority of their set. With Art Share L.A. providing a spacious, yet intimate venue, the performances are sure to produce an enthralling environment.
Once released, you will also be able to find ACKLAND’s music on iTunes, Spotify, and Bandcamp. Following the album release the band plans to put together a short Southern/Northern California based tour in June 2019.
