Rick Ortega
Rick Ortega
The Artwork of Rick Ortega transcends time and takes us on a mystical journey into an ancient way of life. His paintings reveal an array of indigenous symbols from Mexico’s past, turning his colorful compositions into modern day codices which reveal the history, myths, legends, and spiritual beliefs of the Mexica people, better known as the Aztecs. Each painting captures the heritage of his ancestors, who held the arts with high regard, truly believing that the Tlacuilo (The Painter) had his heart rooted in God and would transfer the symbols of divinity to his paintings. This ancient tradition of creativity is the root of Mr. Ortega’s art.

Rich Romeros
Rich Romeros
My art is for everyone, but specifically for La Raza. A way to represent my upbringing in Southern California. To express our desires to be accounted for and respected. This series of work each drawing contain 3 ideas, 1st, something organic that grows from the earth, highly recognizable in the community. 2nd, a young woman, a chola, one that will give birth to the future. And 3rd, an image that too many would represent spiritually and light. Through these 3 images I’m able to show life a life cycle from be born out of the earth, to gaining consciousness, an identity, and finally to death, where our mind and spirt ascend to the cosmos, the light.
