Join Art Share LA for an artist talk featuring Chelle Barbour and Dave Pressler from our Plus One exhibit in conversation with Heidi Johnson of Hijinx.
Chelle Barbour is a multimedia artist, public speaker, and independent curator. While her initial foray into the arts began in theatre, Chelle’s work has expanded into a fully engaged art practice of curating, writing, photography, digital video, collage, and painting. Her photographic work is in the permanent collection of the California African American Museum, and in the photography archives at the J Paul Getty Museum. Chelle’s artwork also appears in group art exhibitions, most recently at LA Southwest College Art Gallery, Ave 50 Gallery, and at Project Row Houses (PRH) in Houston, Texas. In September, Chelle’s Afro Surrealistic collage work will be on display at Band of Vices Gallery in Los Angeles. As an arts institution collaborator, Chelle has participated as a moderator on CAAM’s exciting exhibition symposium,”We Wanted A Revolution: Black Radical Women 1960-1985″, and a discussant on the panel, “How Will Feminist Culture Engage the Future?” in association with the College Art Association conference. Developing new creative alliances is an ongoing process.
