Story Chicks Meet The Big Band Jazz In “Channel Surfing”
May 8, 2018 @ 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM
About
There are a few things worth braving traffic and coming to downtown LA for on a Tuesday night, but here’s one of them: Story Chicks Meet The Big Bad Jazz Band in ‘Channel Surfing’ on Tuesday, May 8 at 7:30 pm at Art Share LA, 801 E. 4th Pl. LA.
The Big Bad Garage Band (aka Jazz Band) is a top flight big band of professional musicians who have been playing together since 2008. Members of the band have performed with The Rolling Stones, The LA Philharmonic Orchestra, Stan Kenton, The Jazz on the Latin Side All Stars, Etta James and many other artists. Under the direction of Craig Kupka, the band performs arrangements dating from 1932 to the present day. Filled with wonderful soloists and terrific vocalists, the group presents high energy, fun concerts inviting audiences into the world of big band music!
And if that’s not enough, sprinkled in will be the true-story stylings of the Story Chicks. CE Jordan and Terri MartinLujan started out performing as dancers, directing theatre and choreographing musicals. As published poets and essayists they now stage their true stories to wonderful results. Story Chicks has been charming audiences with full-length presentations of their true tales of growing up in the 1950’s and 60’s since 2013. Times may have been simpler back then, but these antic storytellers were anything but shy….then and now!
Come see and hear stories and music as you travel down Route 66, brave a Pink Panther near fiasco, and get taken to a Saturday Night Fish Fry in New Orleans. The theatre at Art Share LA in the Arts District is a perfect setting for this artful, professional, energetic mash-up!! Free parking across the street.. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind super-hot show…and don’t be late!
$15 tickets at the door.
