The Sable Dragonfly

“The Sable Dragonfly: An Ode To My Black Female Body” is a multimedia production that emphasizes the black female body and the experiences lived through her skin. Expressed through Sakile Odimo’s artistic voice from her own personal experiences as a black woman, this project will highlight the mystery, majesty, beauty, vulnerability, and tribulations it takes to maneuver this society as a black female.

The installation focuses on the black female body & how its regarded within space. Told in four parts — From My Eyes, From Their Eyes, From My Mouth, and From Their Mouth — the film and art installation will be a visual representation, told through one black woman’s experiences, to make tangible what it means to be a black woman. The goal of both is to provide a safe space for the black female, body and soul, so she can move and interact with space and herself freely in an authentic way.

The installation is free and open to the public from 7:00pm–11:00pm!
