Electronic Art Music Forum
January 16, 2019 @ 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM
About
At this installment of our EAM Forum, we will discuss aesthetics of composing electronic music, including principles such as temporal fields, continuity and simultaneity, density, opacity, transparency, oppositions such as formalism vs intuitionism, coherence vs invention, spontaneity vs reflection, smoothness vs roughness, sensation vs communication, and more, using Curtis Roads’ “Microsound” as a platform. We will listen to and discuss Edgard Varèse’s Poeme Electronique and Deserts, then open the floor to those in attendance who would like to share their own works, whether completed or in progress.
Suggested donations $10-$20. There is space limitation of 10-13, so arrive promptly to guarantee a spot!
