Biography for Jasmine Lin and Kyoko Takenaka

Jas + Kyoko are non-binary polydisciplinary performance artists who share a tender friendship and synergetic artistic practices incorporating butoh, healing modalities, and experimental filmmaking. Jas Lin is a choreographer and movement facilitator committed to the life-long process of un-learning and un-teaching oppressive, Othering, and superficial ways of moving, being, sensing, and knowing. Kyoko Takenaka is an actor and guitarist/singer-songwriter of the queer multicontinental afro-asia band, ‘Wastewomxn’, channeling diasporic experience and liberation through their work. Together, they have presented live performances, films, and workshops at spaces such as Highways Performance Space (Asian America: The Future Is Now), Sabbatical Studio, Spotlight Gallery (Rest as a Form of Protest), and the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (Ballad of a Blood Moon). Play is a central element in their creative process, interwoven with themes of ritual, growth, impermanence, and the in-between.

Synopsis for cavern

 [cavern]

Enter the cavern of mystical delights, a Container for two shapeshifting cave dwellers tangled in non-linear cycles of death and re-birth, fantasy and transience. Embark on a naked journey of peeling, healing, and becoming through original music, butoh, and performance art on this week of All Hallow’s Eve. What histories, memories, imaginations, and futures are embodied through ceremony?
