While attempting to shield her gender-questioning half-brother from the harsh addiction-based realities of their mother’s absence, Krystal, a young physically-disabled woman, prepares to enlist in the military in order to find out the truth about the father who mysteriously abandoned them years ago- even if it means leaving behind the only true family she has left.
Roxie Perkins (REDCAT, LA Philharmonic, The LARK), described by Sundance Institute dramaturg Mame Hunt as “the most fearless, the most determined, the most talented and promising emerging writer we’ve invited to [Sundance] Ucross,” teams up with Los Angeles director/producer Taylor Greenthal to assemble a multidisciplinary evening of performance. The world premiere of Perkins’ new play Run is an intersectional exploration of what it means to be queer within a context of economic chaos.
Run time: 1.5 hrs
